Final Rankings 100-91: Go West, Young Man

Often credited to Horace Greeley, the notion of westward expansion can also apply to this portion of the rankings as a majority of the teams land west of the Mississippi. The PAC-12 boasts three teams on this list, including the surprise appearance from the Stanford Cardinal. This is also the first time in these rankings that no team fired their head coach.
This portion was also delayed because of the obnoxiously long wait for the Army/Navy game. Nonetheless, here's how the list shapes out and here are the previous sets: 130-121 120-111 110-101

100.)Image result for texas tech football 2019Texas Tech (4-8, 83.5 WP, 58.3 LP)
The injury to starting quarterback Alan Bowman didn't help the Red Raiders in 2019, but he was able to redshirt and will return to Lubbock in 2020. Without him, Texas Tech wasn't able to win some very close contests with four games being settled by three points or fewer. One of those came in a double overtime loss against Baylor, but they also lost to Kansas. They did however knock off Oklahoma State for one of their two Big 12 Wins.
The Matt Wells era didn't get off to the start he wanted, but it's been par for the course for the Red Raiders. They finished with a losing record for the fourth consecutive season. If he falters, maybe like his predecessor, Kliff Kingsbury, he can land a job in the NFL.
Best Win: Oklahoma State
Worst Loss: Kansas
2018 Finish: 5-7, No. 85

99.)Image result for south carolina football 2019 South Carolina (4-8, 81.5 WP, 44.9 LP)
The Gamecocks had one of the biggest upsets in 2019 when they ruined Georgia's perfect season with a thrilling double overtime victory. They followed that up by losing five of their final six including a loss at the hands of Appalachian State. South Carolina mustered just 24 total points in their final three games, including a drubbing at the hands of in-state rival Clemson.
Will Muschamp is starting to feel his seat get a little hotter in Columbia. This is the third time in the last five years that South Carolina has finished with a losing record.
Best Win: Georgia
Worst Loss: Missouri
2018 Finish: 7-6 (Belk Bowl), No. 66

98.)Image result for arizona wildcats football 2019 Arizona (4-8, 77.8 WP, 51.1 LP)
It started off so well for the Wildcats as they started the year with a 4-1 record, but PAC-12 play was very unkind. Arizona didn't get to within fewer than ten points in their final seven games and four of those contests were decided by at least 24 points. In his first two seasons, Kevin Sumlin is just 9-15.
This is the first time the Wildcats haven't made a bowl appearance in back-to-back seasons since their ten year drought from 1998-2007. They've also dropped three straight to the Sun Devils and finished the decade just 3-7 against ASU.
Best Win: Colorado
Worst Loss: Stanford
2018 Finish: 5-7, No. 86

97.)Image result for tulsa golden hurricane football 2019 Tulsa (4-8, 58.8 WP, 40.4 LP)
The AAC was a tough course to navigate and the Golden Hurricane didn't make it easy for anybody trying to make it to the top. SMU needed three overtimes to escape Tulsa, while Memphis needed a late fourth quarter score to win by one, but UCF was not so lucky. The Knights blew a 28-17 lead and Tulsa finally got one of the conference elites. They also picked up wins over bowl bound Wyoming and capped the season with a victory over ECU.
After taking Tulsa to bowl appearances in his first two seasons, Phillip Montgomery has watched the Hurricane go through some tough sledding. In 2017 they finished with just two wins, improved to three in 2018, and then four in 2019.
Best Win: UCF
Worst Loss: Houston
2018 Finish: 3-9, No. 113

96.)Image result for UCLA football 2019 UCLA (4-8, 55.3 WP, 48.4 LP)
The Bruins couldn't overcome a dreadful 1-5 start, but did put together a three-game win streak, including a surprise victory over No.24 Arizona State. Then it was a merciless beatdown from Utah and inner-city rival USC before dropping their final game to Cal.
The Chip Kelly era is taking a little longer to get kick started then some would like. He's just 7-17 in his first two seasons at UCLA. The good news is that in 2020 the Bruins won't have their season opener dashed by Cincinnati, who won both games in their home-and-home series. Instead they'll open with FBS doormat New Mexico State.
Best Win: Arizona State
Worst Loss: Arizona
2018 Finish: 3-9, No. 106

95.)Image result for stanford football 2019 Stanford (4-8, 51.3 WP, 59.3 LP)
The Cardinal lost a lot of offensive firepower in 2019 as receiver JJ Arcega-Whiteside (1,059 yards, 14 TD in 2018) and running back Bryce Love (3,866 yards and 30 TD in career) both made their way to the NFL. Their departures left an inconsistent offense that was still in bowl contention before dropping their final four games of the year.
The disappointing finish meant that for the first time since he took over, David Shaw did not lead the Cardinal to a bowl appearance. The last time it happened was under Jim Harbaugh back in 2008 when Stanford missed bowls from 2002-08.
Best Win: Washington
Worst Loss: UCLA
2018 Finish: 9-4 (Sun Bowl), No. 29

94.)See the source image Army (5-8, 122.4 WP, 42.3 LP)
The Black Knights looked like they might have a repeat of 2018 when they took Michigan to double overtime and got off to a 3-1 start. Then the wheels fell off with losses in five straight games, capped by a 17-13 defeat at the hands of Air Force. They had a chance to become bowl eligible, but were blown out by Hawai'i.
Army had their three-game winning streak over Navy dashed with a 31-7 trouncing. This is also the first time since 2015 that the Black Knights will not be headed to a bowl game. Those three bowl game appearances have Jeff Monken tied for the most in Army history.
Best Win: UTSA
Worst Loss: San Jose State
2018 Finish: 11-2 (Armed Forces Bowl), No. 9

93.)Image result for coastal carolina football 2019 Coastal Carolina (5-7, 109 WP, 64.1 LP)
The Chanticleers shook off a week one loss to EMU by stunning Kansas for Coastal Carolina's first ever win against a Power 5 school. Two more wins and they were off to a fast 3-1 start.Sun Belt play proved to be a treacherous path to navigate as they dropped five of their next six games including a thrilling three overtime loss to Georgia Southern.
A one-point loss to Arkansas State eliminated them for bowl contention, but they finished strong by winning their final two games. The Chanticleers are still looking for their first bowl appearance, but could do so at home next season when the Myrtle Beach Bowl makes its debut in 2020.
Best Win: Kansas
Worst Loss: EMU
2018 Finish: 5-7, No. 95

92.)Image result for troy trojans 2019 football Troy (5-7, 108.8 WP, 53.4 LP)
The Trojans had an up and down 2019 as they could score points in droves (35 points or more in 8 games), but they also allowed a mountain of points (7 games with 35 points or more allowed). The toughest loss came to Coastal Carolina as they were edged by the Chanticleers when they converted a two-point try with 30 seconds left to win 36-35. That game forced them to go into a must win situation against the Sun Belt's top two teams and they were throttled by Louisiana and Appalachian State by a combined score of 101-16.
Chip Lindsey couldn't keep the continuity from the Neal Brown era in his first season. Brown had led Troy to three straight 10-win seasons, which allowed him to leapfrog to a Power 5 school in West Virginia. This is the first time since 2015 that the Trojans won't be in a bowl game.
Best Win: Georgia Southern
Worst Loss: Southern Miss
2018 Finish: 10-3 (Dollar General Bowl), No. 20

91.)See the source image San Jose State (5-7, 97.8 WP, 64.9 LP)
The Spartans were greatly improved in 2019, but could not find the extra win to become bowl eligible. San Jose State had three crushing defeats by three points or less, but they did pull off a huge upset over an SEC school (Arkansas). That win snapped a five-game losing streak against FBS schools after they posted just one win in 2018.
Brett Brennan more than doubled his win total this season as he was just 3-22 in his previous two seasons. The Spartans have not been to a bowl since 2015 and haven't had a winning record since 2012.
Best Win: Arkansas
Worst Loss: UNLV
2018 Finish: 1-11, No. 126
