Central Michigan (1-11, 131 WP, 80.8 LP)
The lone win for the Chippewa's came against Maine (FCS) when they edged out the Black Bears 17-5. Central lost games to Eastern, Western, and Michigan State to secure their spot as the worst FBS school from Michigan. John Bonamego took the brunt of the blame and was fired after four seasons. CMU helped Kansas snap their 46-game road losing streak.

UConn (1-11, 131 WP, 57.5 LP)
The Huskies were a record setting bunch, just not in the right way. UConn demolished the records for defensive futility by allowing 605 points and 617.4 yards per game. Why are the Huskies ranked ahead of CMU, well it comes down to the strength of schedule they played. Aside from their 56-49 win over Rhode Island (FCS) the Huskies played four of their first five against teams that were ranked at one point in the season (UCF, Boise State, Syracuse, Cincinnati). The AAC was a far tougher conference to navigate and Randy Edsall somehow got to keep his job.

UTEP (1-11, 128 WP, 80.1 LP)
The Miners at one point held the nation's longest losing streak at 20 consecutive losses, but a win over Rice transferred the rights to that dubious honor. It started off on the wrong foot with a loss to Northern Arizona (FCS) and they even helped UNLV, New Mexico State, UTSA, and Western Kentucky rare wins. However, their one win is against an FBS opponent, so they get the slight edge over the bottom two.

Rutgers (1-11, 127 WP, 45.7 LP)
Rutgers currently carries the longest losing streak in the country after Rice stunned the world with a victory in their final game. The Scarlet Knights nearly ended the streak, but they did what they do best, throw interceptions. The interception in the red zone was the 22nd pick thrown by a Rutgers player compared to just five touchdowns. Dwayne Haskins by comparison had four games with five or more touchdowns and threw for four before being lifted in the second half against Rutgers. The lone win came in week one over Texas State, but admittedly the defense performed much better towards the end.

San Jose State (1-11 98 WP, 52.7 LP)
Getting one win in a very tough Mountain West is an accomplishment for a bottom tier team, but losing to an FCS school is less impressive. They had chances to win earlier in the year Hawai'i, San Diego State, and Colorado State, but the win finally came against UNLV. As for that loss to an FCS school, UC Davis secured a win en route to a playoff appearance in the FCS to begin the year. The Spartans finished on a four game skid.

Rice (2-11, 114.5 WP, 57.6 LP)
Rice bookended their season with victories, but it was a rough 11 games in between. After barely beating Prairie View A&M (FCS) the Owls dropped 11 straight before knocking off an Old Dominion team that had stunned Virginia Tech earlier in the year. The Owls big blow came when they inherited the nation's longest losing streak from UTEP in the Miners first win in almost two years.

Kent State (2-10, 128 WP, 72.1 LP)
Nobody was sacked more this year than Woody Barrett (40) as the Golden Flashes finished with two wins. That doesn't mean they weren't competitive as they blew a lead at Illinois in an upset bid, lost to Ohio by one and had disaster against Akron. Kent State needed an extra point to send the game into double overtime, but a bad snap allowed the Zips to walk away with the Wagon Wheel. At 32, Sean Lewis is barely older than his seniors, but should be a positive influence for a team that could have some potential in 2019.

Louisville (2-10, 126 WP, 45.4 LP)
Apparently the only thing keeping Louisville from crashing straight down was Lamar Jackson. While it's always hard to replace a Heisman Trophy winner, it usually doesn't go this poorly. The Cardinals allowed 50 points or more in seven games this year including 77 to Clemson. Louisville lost nine straight to finish the year and fired Bobby Petrino.

Arkansas (2-10, 125 WP, 52.4 LP)
Usually SEC teams don't have Group of 5 schools circling them as potential wins, but then again Arkansas isn't playing like an SEC team. The Razorbacks were upset by Colorado State and North Texas in back to back weeks to start a six game skid before beating Tulsa. Then they lost their final four games.

At 2-3 things didn't look so bad for the Panthers, but then they lost seven straight including six by nine points or more. They are however, the first team on this list with a dominating victory over a bowl eligible team, but that's the Sun Belt for you sometimes.
