UTEP 34-Rice 26Rice (1-9) tried to rain on UTEP's parade by scoring 23 unanswered points, but the Miners (1-8) held on to snap their 20 game losing streak.
The last time UTEP won a game was November 26, 2016 against North Texas. With the victory, the Miners have passed the longest losing streak baton to the Owls. Rice barely won their opener against Prairie View A&M (FCS) and have lost nine straight.
The Owls will likely have 11 losses before their first chance to win as they face Louisiana Tech and LSU next before meeting Old Dominion in the final game. UTEP will try to win back-to-back games for the first time since September of 2015. They'll play Middle Tennessee State (6-3).
