NORTH:
(4) Wisconsin 60 (1) Kansas 55
The Badgers stunned the Number 1 overall team in the tournament with their tough defense and streaky shooting by the Jayhawks. Wisconsin advances to just their seventh Elite Eight ever and first since 2015 when they finished second. They are seeking their first title since 1941, but will have to get through the bluest of Blue Bloods.
(2) Kentucky 80 (11) ETSU 46
It was supposed to be an epic Sweet 16 meeting between Duke and Kentucky, but the Buccaneers lights out three-point shooting said otherwise. However, in just their second ever Sweet 16, ETSU was no match for the eight time National Champs, who crushed the hopes and dreams of a Cinderella coming from the North. This is exactly where the Wildcats expected to be as they make their 39th Elite Eight appearance and which is where they were bounced in 2019.
SOUTH
(8) St. Mary's 61 (5) Ohio State 59 OT
The teams traded blows to force overtime, but it would be the Gaels that survived a flurry of late shots from the Buckeyes to stun and advance. This will be just the second ever Elite Eight appearance for St. Mary's and first since 1959. They've never advanced to the Final Four, but have a good chance in this chaotic bracket.
(14) Northern Iowa 47 (2) Creighton 45
After winning late against Virginia, the Panthers magic continued with a last second bucket to go ahead. The BlueJays got off one last shot, but it hit the rim and ricocheted away. This is new territory for Northern Iowa as they had only made it to the Sweet 16 once back in 2010. In a weird twist, that season featured four teams with a nine seed or higher ranking. Two of those schools were Northern Iowa (9) and St. Mary's (10). Kentucky had also eliminated a Cinderella in Cornell (12). Ohio State and West Virginia also made appearances in that Sweet 16.
