The Atlantic 10 Champs coasted to an easy win on Friday over the NEC Champs. The Flyers jumped out to an insurmountable lead and will face Florida on Sunday.
(9) Florida 80 (8) Colorado 67
The Gators also had a fairly easy time in their upset win over the Buffaloes. Both teams entered as at large bids, but now Florida moves on to face top seed Dayton.
(5) Butler 72 (12) Texas 58
It was more easy work for the boys from Indianapolis as they bounces Texas from the tournament after the Longhorns win in the Play-In Round. Butler will head on to face Maryland in the next round.
(4) Maryland 55 (13) Akron 50
Finally a closer contest, but no upset as MACtion was no match in the end for their Big Ten Champion counterparts. The Terrapins led late and held off a late barrage from the Zips to secure a spot in the next round against Butler.
(6) Penn State 69 (11) UCLA 43
An absolute dismantling occurred Friday when the Nittany Lions manhandled UCLA by 26. The Bruins had won the Play-In game, but their ride ends and Penn State's continues with a date against Villanova.
(3) Villanova 77 (14) Hofstra 39
The Wildcats hopes at returning to a National Championship got off to an excellent start as they made quick work of the Colonial Champs. They have to go through Penn State in order to find their way back to their 2018 form.
(7) West Virginia 63 (10) Utah State 60
The Mountaineers erased a deficit and then clung on to their lead for dear life as the Aggies missed a three to tie the game before the buzzer. West Virginia nows moves on to face the most surprising opponent of the tournament.
(15) Wright State 83 (2) Florida State 81 2OT
The greatest moment of the tournament came from an unlikely source as the Horizon League Champs ousted a tournament favorite in Florida State. The Seminoles gave everything they had, knocking down a three to tie the game at the end of regulation, and then did the same in the first overtime. Wright State returned the favor in the second overtime as they gathered an offensive rebound and threw up a shot that found the net right before the buzzer. The Raiders look to play Cinderella against West Virginia and on the Sweet 16.
WEST
(1) Gonzaga 68 (16) Prairie View A&M 51
The Panthers made it interesting early, but Gonzaga pulled away late to secure a spot in the second round. The WCC Champs will face the SEC Tournament Champs.
(8) LSU 56 (9) Oklahoma 52
The Sooners could not hit the big shots late in the game to come back against the SEC Tournament, LSU. The Tigers will face a tough task in Gonzaga in the Round of 32.
(12) Yale 61 (5) Michigan 51
It was another rough moment for the Big Ten as Ivy League Champs, Yale, couldn't stop knocking down threes. The Wolverines didn't have an answer and will instead watch the Bulldogs face Oregon in the next round.
(4) Oregon 57 (13) New Mexico State 51
The PAC-12 Champ Ducks struggled to shake the WAC Champs, but the Aggies couldn't keep pace late and had their upset bid foiled. Oregon will now await the Yale Bulldogs.
(11) Indiana 53 (6) BYU 49
Things finally went the Big Ten's way when the Hoosiers pulled off an upset when they stunned the BYU Cougars with a late surge. Indiana will get a strong foe from the Big East in Seton Hall.
(3) Seton Hall 53 (14) Montana 44
The Big Sky Champ Grizzlies had the three-ball working early, but went dry late to allow the Pirates to coast on to the second round. Seton Hall will have to deal with another bracket buster in Indiana.
(7) Arizona 75 (10) Texas Tech 57
This was ugly from the start as the Red Raiders went cold in the beginning and then couldn't make the threes to keep Arizona close enough. The Wildcats were on the edge of their seat to see who they would play next, but Cinderella couldn't quite make the dance.
(2) San Diego State 70 (15) UC Irvine 68 OT
The Anteaters could not stop taking threes and it was nearly a recipe for success. Any lead built up by the Aztecs was quickly cut short before the two teams feverishly traded threes near the end of regulation. UC Irvine stunned the crowd when they nailed a buzzer beating three to tie the game. They nearly had a chance to win it in overtime, but missed allowing San Diego State to score just before time expired. The Aztecs will meet Arizona in the next round.
