The Cougars (2-1) had the answers for Jonathan Taylor, who ran for 117 yards on 26 carries, but did not find the end zone. Meanwhile the Badgers (2-1) had no answer for Squally Canada who had similar yardage (118), but finished with two scores.
The two teams were deadlocked at the end of the first half before Canada put BYU up 21-14. Alex Hornibrook led the Badgers down for a game tying scoring drive that was capped by a Taiwan Deal touchdown run. BYU responded with a Skyler Southam 45-yard field goal.
Wisconsin was set up for a 42-yard field goal to tie the game with 41 seconds left. BYU coach Kalani Sitake elected to use two of his final three timeouts to make Rafael Gaglianone think about it. That strategy paid off as the senior kicker pushed it wide right to seal the upset for BYU.
The Army (2-1) defense limited the Hawai'i (3-1) passing attack and held off a late rally by the Rainbow Warriors to hand Hawai'i its first loss.
Kelvin Hopkins Jr. ran for 110 yards and two scores as well as completing six passes for 162 yards. Hawai'i got off to a fast start, scoring on their first drive, but it would be Army who scored on three consecutive drives to give them a 21-14 halftime lead. Both defenses anchored down before the Black Knights got things going in the fourth.
Army elected to go for it on fourth and one from the Hawai'i 15-yard line and it paid off as they converted and two plays later scored on a Darnell Woolfork touchdown run. It took the Rainbow Warriors exactly one play to close the gap when Cole McDonald found John Ursua for his second touchdown, this one an 80-yard bomb. Hawai'i would one last shot from the Army 11-yard line, but the defense held on for the win.
Army will have another shot at knocking off a 3-0 team when they head to Oklahoma to face the Sooners.
The Fighting Irish (3-0) found themselves in another one score game as they were able to withstand a Vanderbilt (2-1) rally in the second half to remain undefeated.
Brandon Wimbush had 122 yards passing and 84 yards rushing with a score.Tony Jones Jr. added 118 yards on the ground and had 56 yards receiving.
The Irish took a 16-3 lead into the half, but Vanderbilt scored on a three yard run at the end of the third quarter to cut into the lead. Ian Book spelled Wimbush and extended the Notre Dame lead when he found Nic Weishar for a 2-yard score, but the Irish missed the two-point conversion. Vanderbilt closed the gap with a touchdown pass by Kyle Shurmur and the Irish missed a 32-yard field goal that would have made it an eight point game.
Notre Dame's defense hunkered down, stopping the Commodores at the Irish 31 on a fourth and four. Vanderbilt attempted a series of laterals at the end of the game, but the Irish fell on the ball to seal the victory.
Notre Dame will hit the road for the first time this year when they head to Wake Forest (2-1).
The Minutemen (1-3) had a rough go of things Saturday as they watched FIU (2-1) score at will in a 63-24 rout.
Michael Curtis had a passing and rushing touchdown, but threw two interceptions including a pick-six.
UMass welcomes Charlotte (2-1) to Foxboro next week.
The Aggies (0-4) jumped out to a 17-7 lead after one quarter, but the Lobos (2-1) poured it on from there to win the Rio Grande Rivalry for the first time since 2015.
The opening drive for New Mexico St should've been an omen of what was to come, as New Mexico picked off Sheriron Jones and returned it for a touchdown. It would be one of five interceptions thrown by the three Aggie quarterbacks and the first of two picks returned for touchdowns.
Jason Huntley had 67 yards on 16 carries and 87 yards on four catches with a touchdown to lead New Mexico St.
The Aggies hope to extend the longest losing streak in the FBS (15) when the head to UTEP (0-3) in a battle for the Silver Spade.
