UTSA (1-3) jumped out to a quick 17-7 lead, but had to fight off a late rally by Texas St (1-3).
It started well for the Roadrunners defense sacked and stripped Willie Jones III and returned it 27 yards for a touchdown on the opening drive. UTSA also got things going right away offensively as they got a touchdown pass from Cordale Grundy to Tykee Ogle-Kellogg to go up 14-0. Texas State would score a touchdown, but would also throw two picks and miss a field goal.
The Bobcats cut the lead to 17-14 when new QB Tyler Vitt found Keenan Brown for a 21-yard score. The Roadrunners responded with a field goal and then shocked Texas State by recovering an onside kick. That led to another field goal to make it 23-14.
Vitt threw his second touchdown of the game with 5:08 to go and the Bobcats were ready to receive the ball with just under two minutes. They would have terrible starting position as Yannis Routsas pinned the Bobcats at the 2-yard line and it would lead to a UTSA safety to secure the Roadrunners first win of the year.
The Bobcats will take a week off before hosting Louisiana on Oct. 6.

A costly fumble on a punt return set up Arkansas St at the UNLV 2-yard line. Hansen tossed his third touchdown of the game, but the two-point conversion came up short. The Rebels bounced back with a fourth and goal run by Rogers and then turned an Arkansas St fumble into a Lexington Thomas 10-yard touchdown run. The Rebels missed their two-point conversion, but still led 20-19.
Marcel Murray put the Red Wolves on top with a 39-yard run and then ran in the two-point conversion to put them up 27-20. Arkansas St could've put the game away when they picked off Rogers, but would miss a 40-yard field goal. UNLV had one shot at coming back, but a costly holding penalty put the Rebels in a 4th and 19, which they could not convert.
Arkansas St will now head to Georgia Southern (2-1) to open Sun Belt play.

The Tigers (3-1) got more than they bargained for from South Alabama (1-3) as the Jaguars were knotted up with Memphis at the half 21-21.
Memphis used a big fourth quarter to pull away from South Alabama for good. Darrell Henderson ran for 188 yards, two touchdowns, caught two passes for 34 yards, and even attempted a pass in the win.

Outlow scored again to make it 23-7, but Louisiana came roaring back when Elijah Mitchell ran for a 30-yard touchdown. The Ragin' Cajuns crept even closer with a 61-yard touchdown run by Raymond Calais.
The Chanticleers extended the lead to nine with a 29-yard pass from Bryce Carpenter to Isaiah Likely. Andre Nunez found Keenan Barnes for a 15-yard score to make it 30-28 with 5:20 left. Coastal Carolina would pick up two key third down conversions to seal the victory.
The Chanticleers head to Troy (3-1, 1-0) next while Louisiana heads to Alabama (4-0).

The Warhawks would get the ball down to the Troy 11-yard line, but Marcus Jones picked off Evans in the end zone to seal the win.
Troy welcomes Coastal Carolina (3-1, 1-0) while Louisiana Monroe heads to Georgia St (1-3).
