Liberty (1-1) blitzed Old Dominion last week, but it was Army (1-1) who did all the romping on Saturday.
The Black Knights ran to a 24-0 lead before the Flames could get on the board in the third quarter. Army also dominated time of possession 41:30-18:30 thanks to their 449 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. Stephen Calvert had 307 yards and two touchdowns with 172 of those yards and one of the touchdowns going to Damian King.
Army hopes to slow down Cole McDonald and the high flying Hawai'i (3-0) offense. Liberty will host Norfolk St (1-1).
Oh and as promised, a punter ejected for targeting.
In their first meeting ever, the Fighting Irish (2-0) looked sloppy against a Ball St (1-1) team that came back from 24-6 to make things interesting, but not enough to knock off Notre Dame.
As good as Brandon Wimbush looked early on against Michigan, he tossed three interceptions on a dreary day in South Bend. The Irish were also 4-of-14 on third down.
Notre Dame will host Vanderbilt (2-0) next week.
The Cougars (1-1) couldn't notch their second win of the season against a PAC 12 school, but a late rally came up short against the Cal Bears (2-0).
The defense scored the first touchdown of the day with BYU already down 14-3 when Dayan Ghanwoloku scooped and scored to bring the Cougars to within four. The next drive also ended with an interception for Cal, but BYU was unable to move the ball and punted.
The Bears followed with a touchdown and Tanner Magnum threw two interceptions before leading the Cougars to score with 51 seconds left. Cal recovered the onside kick to secure the win.
The Cougars head to No. 6 Wisconsin (2-0) this week.
The option was on full display as the Eagles (2-0) ran for 334 yards and two scores. The Minutemen (1-2) trailed 17-10 going into halftime, but were outscored 17-3 in the second half. Andy Isabella had a big day receiving with nine catches for 95 yards to lead the way for UMass.
The Minutemen will head to Miami to take on FIU (1-1).
Last season the New Mexico St Aggies (0-3) beat the Utah St Aggies (1-1) in the Arizona Bowl for their first bowl win in 57 years. This year Utah State exacted its revenge as they forced five NMST turnovers and held those Aggies to just 280 total yards.
New Mexico St will try and get back on course against the hated New Mexico Lobos (1-1) next week.
