The Gators (1-1, 0-1 SEC) took a 10-7 lead into the second half, but the Wildcats (2-0, 1-0) put together a 20-6 for their first win against Florida since 1986.
Terry Wilson put the Wildcats on top on Kentucky's first drive of the second half with a 24-yard touchdown run. Wilson then found Lynn Bowden Jr. for a 54-yard touchdown after the Gators missed a field goal.
Florida's woes continued with an interception before Feleipe Franks found Freddie Swain for a four yard score. The two-point conversion failed, but the Gators were able to get the ball back with 29 seconds remaining. Three plays later Franks was sacked and stripped, but in a strange series the Wildcats Kent Davonte stopped running. UK coach Mark Stoops told him to keep going and he was tackled at the goal line and crossed the plane to make it 27-16 as time expired.
Kentucky welcomes Murray St (0-2) to Lexington while the Gators welcome Colorado St (1-2).
The Georgia Bulldogs (2-0, 1-0 SEC) used a 21 point third quarter to distance themselves from the Gamecocks (1-1, 0-1) and win their SEC opener.
Mecole Hardman had 103 yards on six catches with a touchdown for UGA while Bryan Edwards hauled in seven catches for 111 yards and two scores for SC. The Gamecocks were limited to just 54 yards rushing while the Bulldogs rushing attack had 271 yards and three scores.
South Carolina welcomes Marshall (2-0) next while Georgia also takes on a Conference USA team in Middle Tennessee St (1-1).
Perhaps the game of the week, the Clemson (2-0) defense was absolutely smothering, holding Texas A&M (1-1) to just three points in the first half, but the Aggies were able to crack the Tigers in the fourth quarter to make it interesting.
Perhaps the biggest play did not involve a score as Texas A&M was driving with just over two minutes left in the game. Kellen Mond connected with Quartney Davis when K'Von Wallace came from behind and stripped Davis. The officials ruled that the ball went out of bounds in the endzone to force a touchback. Replay was unable to confirm or deny the ruling, so the call stood.
The Aggies got the ball back with 1:08 left and took just 22 seconds to score on what should have been an interception, but the ball was tipped up to Kendrick Rogers for the touchdown. Mond was not so lucky on the 2-point conversion as he was picked off in the endzone and the Tigers held on to win.
Kelly Bryant and Trevor Lawrence each through a touchdown, while Bryant added another with his legs to lead the way for Clemson. Dabo Swinney is now 5-4 all-time against Jimbo Fisher.
Texas A&M looks to hand Louisiana Monroe (2-0) their first loss of the season on Saturday. One piece of good news is that Forbes has now list Texas A&M as the most valuable college football program in the land, replacing former Big 12 rival Texas.
Alabama (2-0) continued its humiliation tour, welcoming Arkansas St (1-1) to the pain.
Surprisingly the Red Wolves only had one turnover in this drubbing. Tua Tagovailoa threw for four touchdowns while Jalen Hurts added another two. Najee Harris ran for 135 yards and a score to lead the ground attack.
Alabama heads to Ole Miss (2-0) for their SEC opener.
The Salukis (1-1) lead 38-35 going into halftime, but OleMiss (2-0) dropped 41 in the second half for one of the higher scoring outputs in college football this season.
The Rebels barely out-gained SIU 646-629. Jordan Ta'amu threw for 448 yards and five touchdowns. A.J. Brown had 158 yards receiving and two touchdowns while Braylon Sanders added 133 yards on four catches with a score.
Ole Miss will open SEC play at home against Alabama (2-0).
One of my favorite halftime scores this year, the Tigers (2-0) lead the Hornets (1-1) 42-2.
As a team Auburn ran for 429 yards and six scores while Alabama St had 205 total yards. Each team turned the ball over four times.
Auburn will play the game of the week against No. 12 LSU (2-0).
Joe Burrow threw two touchdowns and Nick Brossette ran for 137 yards on 19 carries to easily lead the Tigers (2-0) over the Lions (0-2).
LSU travels to No. 7 Auburn (2-0).
Nevada (1-1) only trailed by seven at halftime, but Vanderbilt (2-0) outscored the Wolfpack 24-0 in the second half. Nevada committed four turnovers and had just 34 yards rushing. Kyle Shurmur threw two touchdowns, both to Kalija Lipscomb, while Keshawn Vaughn had 93 yards on 11 carries with two scores.
Vanderbilt travels to No. 8 Notre Dame (2-0) this week.
Wyoming (1-2) amassed just 248 yards while allowing Drew Lock to throw for 398 yards and four touchdowns to lead Missouri (2-0).Lock also ran for 51 yards and a touchdown while Emanuel Hall had 10 catches for 171 yards and a score.
Missouri looks to continue Purdue's (0-2) rough start.
Kansas State (1-1) was held to just 213 total yards while the Bulldogs (2-0) ran for 384 yards with 211 of them going to Kylin Hill.
Mississippi State welcomes the Ragin' Cajuns (1-0) next.
The Volunteers (1-1) took out their frustrations from last week on the Buccaneers (1-1) limiting them to just 194 total yards while forcing three turnovers.
Tennessee had five rushing touchdowns with Jeremy Banks and Madre London both coming away with two each.
The Volunteers welcome the longest losing streak in college football, UTEP (0-2), to Knoxville.
The Rams (1-2) pass defense had been picked apart by Hawai'i and Colorado, but they were able to hold Arkansas (1-1) to just 138 yards through the air.
Colorado St used a 17-0 surge in the fourth quarter to rally past the Razorbacks for the win. Devwah Whaley lead the way for Arkansas with 26 carries for 165 yards and a score.
Arkansas looks to slow down the high powered North Texas (2-0) offense on Saturday.
