Washington St (3-1, 0-1 PAC 12) took a 24-17 lead into halftime, but USC (2-2, 1-1) rallied in the fourth quarter to stun the Cougars.
Max Borghi pushed the halftime lead up six when he scampered in from 13 yards out. The Cougars would miss on the two-point conversion. The Trojans quickly responded with a 50-yard touchdown pass from J.T. Daniels to Michael Pittman Jr.
USC retook the lead when Daniels hooked up with Amon-Ra St. Brown for a 30-yard score. Gardner Minshew got the Cougars right back on top with his third touchdown pass of the game, but once again Washington St elected to go for two and missed. The Trojans marched down the field and Vavae Malepeai put USC back into the lead and Daniels found Tyler Vaughns for the two-point conversion to make it 39-36.
Late in the fourth quarter Washington St had a chance to tie the game, but Blake Mazza's 38-yard field goal attempt was blocked by Jay Tufele to seal the win for USC.
The Trojans head to Arizona to take on the Wildcats (2-2, 1-0) while Washington St hosts Utah (2-1, 0-1).
Oregon (3-1, 0-1 PAC 12) dominated Stanford (4-0, 2-0) in the first half, but the Cardinal put together a 24 point second half to stun the Ducks in overtime.
The Ducks were staked to a 24-7 lead at the half with the big blow coming from a 48-yard touchdown run by C.J. Verdell. Still trailing late in the third quarter, Stanford's defense would help kickstart the comeback when Joey Alfieri recovered a fumbled and returned it 80 yards for the score. Two minutes later Bryce Love punched it in from 22 yards out to cut the Ducks lead to 24-21.
Oregon finally got on the board in the second half when Cyrus Habibi-Likio scored from one yard out to make it a ten point game with 4:39 left in the game. K.J. Costello led the Cardinal 79 yards in just three plays, capped by a 15-yard touchdown pass to J.J. Arcega-Whiteside.
With just one timeout left the Cardinal needed a stop and got it with 51 seconds left as Verdell was stripped by Noah Williams and Stanford recovered. The crowd in Eugene was stunned as Stanford marched down the field and Jet Toner split the uprights on a game tying, quarter ending, field goal.
In overtime Costello connected with Colby Parkinson on just the second play of the series. The Ducks would have their series stall as Justin Herbert's pass was intercepted on fourth and goal to end the game.
Stanford heads east for a top ten showdown with No. 8 Notre Dame (4-0). Oregon travels to No. 24 Cal (3-0).
Arizona State (2-2, 0-1 PAC 12) led for most of the first quarter, but the Huskies (3-1, 2-0) got three touchdown passes from Jake Browning to stave off the upset.
The Sun Devils made it interesting in the fourth quarter when Manny Wilkins scored on a 1-yard run with 2:54. Arizona State had a chance to get the ball back with time, but Washington was able to convert a third and six with 2:18 left.
Eno Benjamin had 104 yards rushing and a score in the loss.
Washington hosts No. 20 BYU (3-1) next while Arizona State hosts Oregon State (1-3, 0-1).
The Wildcats (2-2, 1-0 PAC 12) rolled to an easy win over Oregon St (1-3, 0-1) to win their PAC 12 opener.
Arizona ran for 442 yards with J.J. Taylor tallying 284 yards on 27 carries with two touchdowns. Gary Brightwell added 113 yards and a touchdown for the Wildcats. Conor Blount threw two touchdown passes for Oregon St in the loss.
The Wildcats will host USC (2-2, 1-1) while the Beavers head to Arizona St (2-2, 0-1).
