The Cornhuskers (0-2) were without quarterback Adrian Martinez and fell to 0-2 for the first time since 1957. Oh, and they're also out $1.15 million dollars.
That's what they paid Troy (2-1) to head up to Lincoln, Nebraska for what should have been the first win on Scott Frost's Nebraska coaching resume. Instead B.J. Smith ran for two touchdowns including a 26-yard run that put the Trojans up 24-13 with 6:45 left in the game. Cedarius Rookard also returned a punt for a touchdown that helped give Troy a 17-7 lead at the half.
Andrew Bunch took the Cornhuskers down to score with 2:55 remaining, but Nebraska missed on the two-point conversion to make it 24-19. Nebraska held and got the ball back, but Bunch was picked off by Will Sunderland to secure the win for Troy. It was Nebraska's third turnover of the game.
Last year Troy ran away with a $900,000 paycheck they took from beating LSU 24-21.
