Temple (3-3, 2-0 American) held the Pirates (2-3, 0-2) to just 196 total yards of offense to throttle ECU on Saturday.
Anthony Russo threw for 254 yards and four touchdowns while Ryquell Armstead had 91 yards on 20 carries with a touchdown to lead the Owls.
ECU nearly had as many punts (11) as they did first downs (12).
The Owls head to Navy (2-3, 1-1) next while the Pirates will need more offense against a high powered Houston (4-1, 1-0) team.
The Bearcats (6-0, 2-0 American) keep rolling as they cruised past Tulane (2-4, 1-1) to remain one of college footballs few undefeated teams left.
Cincinnati got another big game from Desmond Ridder who threw for two touchdowns and ran for another. Michael Warren II continued to add to his touchdown total when he ran for 123 yards on 18 carries with a score. Kahlil Lewis caught two touchdowns in the win.
Justin McMillan threw for two touchdowns and Darius Bradwell added another score for the Green Wave.
The Bearcats will take a week off before heading off to Temple on Oct. 20 while Tulane will return home before hosting SMU (2-4,1-1) that same weekend.
The Golden Knights (5-0, 2-0 American) extended their nation's best 18-game win streak with a rout of SMU (2-4, 1-1).
McKenzie Milton threw for 278 yards and two touchdowns while Adrian Killins Jr. led UCF with 113 yards and a score on the ground. Otis Anderson also gave the Knights two touchdowns with 74 yards on just six carries.
James Proche caught touchdown passes from two different quarterbacks and finished with 100 yards for the Mustangs.
The victory tour marches on to Memphis (4-2, 1-2) while SMU awaits Tulane (2-4, 1-1) on Oct. 20.
Trailing 26-17 with 13:10 left in the fourth quarter the Houston Cougars (4-1, 1-0 American) rallied for the final 24 points of the game to avoid the upset bid by Tulsa (1-4, 0-2).
In the first half, Houston couldn't hold onto the ball as the Golden Hurricane forced two fumbles, an interception, and held the Cougars on a fourth down. Unfortunately for Tulsa, those gifts only translated into three points and would trail 17-13 going into the half.
Tulsa opened the second half on much better footing as they kicked a field goal to cut the lead to one and Corey Tylor II ran in for an 8-yard touchdown. Another field goal made it three straight drives scoring drives to begin the second half.
Then it was Houston's turn for a scoring spree as D'Eriq King scrambled for a 61-yard touchdown and on their following drive, the Cougars knocked in a field goal to seize the lead back. Tulsa's offense would make things worse as they fumbled and threw an interception to lead to two King touchdown passes that extended the lead to 41-26.
Houston will head to ECU (2-3, 0-2) next while Tulsa will host USF (5-0, 1-0) on Friday.
Memphis (4-2, 1-2 American) ended their losing ways thanks to a visit from UConn (1-5, 0-3).
The country's top rusher, Darrell Henderson, added to his totals when he carried the ball 14 times for 174 yards and three touchdowns. He's now just 66 yards away from a 1,000 yard season. His running mate, Patrick Taylor Jr., also gave the Tigers some big outputs as he ran 11 times for 161 yards and had three scores of his own.
David Pindell was responsible for the Huskies two scores as he ran and threw for touchdowns. He also committed two of UConn's four turnovers.
Memphis looks to put No. 10 UCF's (5-0, 2-0) winning streak to a halt while the Huskies get a much needed break before they head to USF on Oct. 20.
Navy (2-3) was held to just 178 total yards of offense and only got a touchdown from Garrett Lewis in a devastating loss to rival Air Force (2-3).
The Midshipmen have not won the Commander-in-Chief's trophy since 2015. Navy will host Temple (3-3, 2-0 American) next.
The Minutemen (2-5) love to give up points and the Bulls (5-0) took full advantage as they ran all over UMass.
Jordan Cronkrite had a ridiculous 302 yards on 23 carries with three touchdowns while Johnny Ford added two more touchdowns on nine carries for 77 yards.
USF has now entered the Top 25 at No. 23 and will look to stay undefeated against Tulsa (1-4, 0-2) on Friday.
