A week off was plenty for West Virginia (6-1, 4-1 Big 12) as they took out their frustrations of losing to Iowa State out on Baylor (4-4, 2-3) on Thursday.
Will Grier found his groove against the Bears' defense with 353 yards and three touchdowns to go with a rushing score. Even back-up Jack Allison got in on the action throwing a touchdown and completing all four passes.
Charlie Brewer had a rough night going 1-of-8 for 22 yards with three interceptions before leaving with an injury. His replacement, Jalan McClendon, ran for a score while receiver Josh Fleeks added a rushing touchdown of his own for Baylor.
The Mountaineers head to Texas (6-2, 4-1) next while Baylor hosts Oklahoma State (5-3, 2-3).
The Cowboys (5-3, 2-3 Big 12) built up a 31-14 lead at the half, but had to hang on at the end to upset Texas (6-2, 4-1) on Saturday night.
Taylor Cornelius threw for three scores and ran for two more in the win. Tylan Wallace was his favorite target with 10 catches for 222 yards and two scores.
Sam Ehlinger followed a first half with two touchdown runs with a second half that featured two passing touchdowns that made it 31-28. Cornelius extended the Pokes lead to 38-28, but Tre Watson scored on a 1-yard run to make it interesting at 38-35. Oklahoma State recovered the onside kick and converted a big third down to run out the clock.
The Cowboys will head to Baylor (4-4, 2-3) next while Texas has another big game at home when West Virginia (6-1, 4-1) rolls in to town.
The Jayhawks (3-5, 1-4 Big 12) continued to break down barriers as they picked up their first win in the month of October since 2009 in a wild win against TCU (3-5, 1-4).
Kansas also won its first Big 12 game since Nov. 19, 2016 (Texas). The Jayhawks have also won three games for the first time since 2014.
It almost wasn't meant to be as Michael Collins scrambled in for a 3-yard touchdown to put the Horned Frogs up 24-20 with 10:38 to play. Peyton Bender led the response for Kansas as he found Pooka Williams Jr. for a short pass, but the speedy back to it 28 yards to the house, giving the Jayhawks a 27-24 lead with 6:13 to play.
TCU got the ball within nine yards of the Kansas end zone, but Darius Anderson fumbled and KeyShaun Simmons recovered. The Jayhawks had seven seconds to kill on a fourth down play and elected to run in the back off of the end zone for a safety, but Bender did so with one second remaining. Kansas kicked off and prevented a return to seal the win.
The Jayhawks host Iowa State (4-3, 3-2) next while TCU welcomes Kansas State (3-5, 1-4).
The Cyclones (4-3, 3-2 Big 12) survived a wild game with Texas Tech (5-3, 3-2) as the Red Raiders got a a defensive score and special teams score, but it would be the Iowa State defense with the big play late.
It starts with a blocked punt for a touchdown and then Texas Tech later tied the game when Dakota Allen recovered a fumble in the end zone. It stayed that way until the Cylcones defense put tremendous pressure on Alan Bowman, who ended up running into the end zone and then committed an intentional grounding penalty for a safety.
Iowa State followed that with a 48-yard touchdown pass from Brock Purdy to Hakeem Butler to put the Cyclones on top 40-31. The Red Raiders last ditch effort was picked off and Iowa State ran out the clock for the win.
The Cyclones now head to Kansas (3-5, 1-4) while Texas Tech hosts Oklahoma (7-1, 4-1).
The Sooners (7-1, 4-1 Big 12) racked up over 700 yards of total offense while holding Kansas State (3-5, 1-4) to just 245 yards.
Kyler Murray threw for 352 yards and three scores while running for another. Kennedy Brooks added 94 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Oklahoma ground game.
Skylar Thompson and Justin Silmon both had rushing touchdowns in the loss for the Wildcats.
Oklahoma heads to Texas Tech (5-3, 3-2) while Kansas State goes to TCU (3-5, 1-4).
