In a showdown for the top spot in the Sun Belt Conference, it was all one sided as the Troy Trojans (4-1, 2-0 Sun Belt) romped to a 45-21 victory over the Chanticleers (3-2, 1-1).
Jabir Daughtry-Frye ran the ball just five times, but had 140 yards including a 74-yard touchdown. He also caught a 35-yard TD from Luke Whittemore. B.J. Smith added 103 yards and two touchdowns on ten carries in the Trojans win.

It came down to the wire and the Eagles (3-1, 1-0 Sun Belt) came away victorious over the Red Wolves (3-2, 0-1).
Arkansas State left plenty of points on the board in the first half as they netted a field goal, but turned the ball over three times on downs. Shai Werts got Georgia Southern on the board as he completed his only pass of the game for a 61-yard touchdown.
The Red Wolves found more trouble on the Eagles side of the field as they fumbled on their first drive and settled for a field goal in their second trip. Werts added a 36-yard rushing touchdown to put the Eagles up 14-6, but Arkansas St finally found the end zone when Justice Hansen tossed an 11-yard TD to Kirk Merritt and converted on their two-point try to tie the game.
Montero Garrett put Georgia Southern up with his six-yard touchdown run that was set up by a Wesley Fields 64 yard scamper. Hansen tied the game back up with 5:07 to play on a 4-yard TD run. With 29 seconds remaining the Eagles faced a key third and seven from around midfield and got a 47-yard touchdown run by Wesley Kennedy III with 19 seconds to go. The Red Wolves attempted one last heave to the end zone, but Hansen was sacked by Joshua Moon and Ty Phillips to end the game.

Georgia Southern will host South Alabama (1-4, 1-1) next while Arkansas State takes a week off before playing a Tuesday game against Appalachian St (3-1, 1-0) on Oct. 9.

No one really gave the Ragin' Cajuns (1-3) to put up much of a fight against the top team in the country and Alabama (5-0) had this game finished after a 49-0 first half.
Louisiana was held to just 88 yards passing including two interceptions, but Andre Nunez did find Ja'Marcus Bradley for an 18 yard touchdown. Trey Ragas finished with 111 yards on 16 carries with a touchdown in the loss.
