Notre Dame (8-0) traveled west for a neutral site visit to San Diego, where they doubled up the Navy Midshipmen (2-6).
Ian Book threw for 330 yards and two touchdowns to Miles Boykin to lead the Fighting Irish. Dexter Williams had 23 carries for 142 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
Notre Dame will head into a potential trap under the lights at Ryan Field when they take on Northwestern (5-3).
Unlike last season, they were no late game defensive heroics needed for Army (6-2) against Eastern Michigan (4-5) as they ruined the Eagles Homecoming on Saturday.
Kelvin Hopkins Jr. took advantage of a defense willing to go full out on the run with 126 yards passing and two touchdown. The Black Knights QB also ran for 105 yards while Darnell Woolfolk plowed his way to 89 yards and a touchdown. Jordan Asberry had a rushing and receiving touchdown in the win.
The Eagles got to within two in the second half, but Army held the ball for over 45 minutes to prevent any rally.
The Black Knights return home for the first leg of the Commander-in-Chief's trophy as the welcome Air Force (3-5). The Falcons already defeated Navy and a win would secure the trophy for a record 21st time. It would make return to Colorado Springs after Army took the trophy last season from Air Force.
The Minutemen (3-6) needed a late rally to hold off the Huskies (1-7) and stay alive for bowl eligibility.
UMass trailed 17-9 early in the fourth quarter when Ross Romis connected with Zak Simon for a 67-yard touchdown, but they failed to tie when the two-point conversion failed. Marquis Young gave the Minutemen their first lead of the game when he scored on a 3-yard touchdown. UMass finished off the Huskies rally when they picked off David Pindell.
The Minutemen return home to take on fellow independent Liberty (4-3).
Anyone interested in offense need not have watched BYU (4-4) struggle against Northern Illinois (5-3).
The Cougars took 3-0 lead into halftime, but the Huskies found the end zone on the first drive of the second half. BYU responded two drives later with another Skyler Southam field goal. Southam missed a 51-yard field goal to take the lead and Zach Wilson would be picked off to secure the win for the MAC program.
The Cougars now head to the blue turf to take on Boise State (6-2).
New Mexico State (2-7) watched their rally fall short to Texas State (2-6) as the Aggies also watched their bowl chances disappear.
The Bobcats built a 27-13 lead when Shane Jackson stripped Willie Jones III and ran the fumbled back 34 yards to cut the deficit to seven. The Aggies had a chance to tie, but Josh Adkins was picked off in the end zone with New Mexico State inside the ten yard line.
Texas State could've put the game away, but Clayton Stewart missed a 44-yard field goal. The Aggies got one last shot, but turned the ball over on downs to end the game.
New Mexico State will host FCS foe Alcorn State (7-2) next.
