It looked like it was going to be a game where whoever had the ball last would win and that's almost what happened when Washington State (7-1, 4-1 PAC-12) kicked a game winner to stun the crowd at Stanford (5-3, 3-2).
The Cardinal jumped out to a 28-17 lead at the half thanks to three K.J. Costello touchdown passes. James Williams cut into that lead with his second rushing touchdown of the game. Jet Toner pushed the Stanford lead to 31-24 heading into the fourth quarter.

Stanford responded with the second TD connection between Costello and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside with 1:25 to play. That was too much left for the high flying Washington State offense as they got close enough to get a Blake Mazza 42-yard field goal with only 19 ticks left on the clock. The Cardinal would get the ball back, but stall out well short of field goal range.
The Cougars are in the drivers seat in the PAC-12 and will host Cal (5-3, 2-3) next while Stanford heads to Washington (6-3, 4-2).

It stayed that way until the final seconds of the third quarter when Browning was picked off by Evan Weaver, who returned it for a 37-yard score. Jake Louton led the comeback starting in the third with his first touchdown pass of the game, then Jack Colletto used his legs to score near the beginning of the fourth. Jordan Choukair tacked on a field goal and Louton and Isaiah Hodgins connected for the second time today while also adding a two-point conversion.
The Buffs added a field goal with 2:05 to play and went up by six, but Louton threw his third touchdown pass of the game with only 29 seconds left. All the Beavers needed was the extra point, but Choukair had his PAT blocked and the Davis Price missed on a 53-yard field goal to win it for Colorado to send the game to overtime.
In the OT, Colletto picked up his second rushing score for Oregon State, while the defense held Montez and Colorado at the seven yard line to win for the first time in six games.
The Beavers go for back-to-back wins for the first time since the end of the 2016 season. They'll have to do so when they host USC (4-4, 3-3). The Buffaloes look to snap their three game skid when they head to Arizona (4-5, 3-3) on Friday.
