The Texas Longhorns (6-1, 4-0 Big 12) fended off a rally from Baylor (4-3, 2-2) to take sole possession of first place in the Big 12.
The Bears went ahead 10-6 thanks to a Charlie Brewer 19-yard touchdown pass to Denzel Mims, but the Longhorns put up 20 straight points. Collin Johnson hauled in a 44-yard touchdown from Shane Buechele while Lil'Jordan Humphrey added a three yard touchdown run. Cameron Dicker knocked through his third field goal of the half as time expired.
The second half belonged to the punters, but it was a turnover that set up the only points of the third quarter. Raleigh Texada picked off Buechele and then six plays later, Baylor scored on a Jalen Hurd touchdown run. Texas moved down the field only for Dicker to miss for the first time in four attempts.
The Longhorns tried another field goal from 51 yards out, but Dicker was unable to connect again to keep the Bears hopes alive. Baylor would get the ball down to the Texas 17 and somehow got three shots to the end zone in just six seconds. All three attempts fell incomplete and Texas held on for their sixth consecutive victory.
The Longhorns take a week off before heading to a slumping Oklahoma State (4-3, 1-3) under the lights on Oct. 27. Baylor's tough road continues as they get a week off before heading to No. 13 West Virginia (5-1, 3-1) on Thursday Oct. 25.

The Red Raiders (4-2, 2-1 Big 12) rallied in the fourth quarter to crush the Horned Frogs' (3-3, 1-2) faithful in Fort Worth.
Texas Tech got on the board first with a field goal after being stopped at the five. The Red Raiders defense would initially keep TCU out of the end zone when Jordyn Brooks picked off Shawn Robinson at the 3-yard line. The Horned Frogs would get a stop and use the short field to set up a 20-yard touchdown pass from Robinson to Jalen Reagor. An interception near the end of the first half nearly proved costly for Texas Tech, but Jonathan Song missed a 47-yard field goal attempt to leave it at 7-3 for the halftime score.
In the second half, the Red Raiders got some help on their second drive when TCU was flagged for defensive holding after stopping Texas Tech on a 3rd and 6. Two plays later Jett Duffey went all out for a 62-yard touchdown to Ja'Deion High to take the lead back for Texas Tech.
Towards the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Horned Frogs mounted an eight play, 80-yard drive that was capped by a 31-yard touchdown pass from Robinson to KaVontae Turpin to put TCU up 14-10.
While the next drive for Texas Tech didn't produce points right away, Dominic Panazzolo had his punted downed at the TCU 1-yard line. The Horned Frogs went in protect mode and were forced to punt and Andrew David's kick only went 35-yards before being touched. It took Duffey just one play to cover the 38 yards as he scrambled his way for a touchdown and the lead for the Red Raiders with 7:02 remaining.
The Horned Frogs next two drives would end in a punt and then an interception by Adrian Frye to seal the victory for Texas Tech on Thursday night.
Texas Tech returns home to face Kansas (2-4, 0-3) next Saturday while TCU draws a tough task when they host Oklahoma (5-1, 2-1).
