The Red Wolves (4-3, 1-2 Sun Belt) got off to a fast start as they took a 34-3 lead into the half and never looked back against Georgia State (2-5, 1-2) on Thursday.
Justice Hansen threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns while adding another 76 yards on the ground with two more scores to lead Arkansas State. Marcel Murray had 11 carries for 115 yards and a score in the win. The Red Wolves defense forced two turnovers and turned one of those into a scoop and score.
Dan Ellington threw for three touchdowns in the loss while Tra Bennett added another score on the ground for the Panthers.
Arkansas State will head to Louisiana to take on the Ragin' Cajuns (3-4, 1-2) while Georgia State hosts Coastal Carolina (4-3, 1-2).
Louisiana Monroe (4-4, 2-2 Sun Belt) jumped out to a 20-7, but a fourth quarter touchdown made things interesting, but Texas State (1-6, 0-4) could not complete the comeback.
The Bobcats got 14 points off turnovers as Tyler Vitt scored after the first Warhawks fumble while Robert Brown Jr. added his score after a fourth quarter fumble.
ULM fortunately was able to overcome as Austin Vaughn ran for a score, Caleb Evans threw for one, and Craig Ford knocked in two field goals in the victory.
The Warhawks take a week off before welcoming Sun Belt leader Georgia Southern (6-1, 3-0) on Nov. 3 while Texas State welcomes New Mexico State (2-6) on Saturday.
Darrynton Evans rand for 183 yards and a touchdown and caught another to lead the Mountaineers (5-1, 3-0 Sun Belt) to their fifth straight win as the knocked off the Ragin' Cajuns (3-4, 1-2).
Appalachian State built a 27-10 lead before Trey Ragas added a 27-yard touchdown with 1:03 for Louisiana.
The victory helped put the Mountaineers in the AP Top 25 for the first time in school history (No. 25) and just in time for a big showdown on Thursday with Georgia Southern (6-1, 3-0). The Cajuns welcome Arkansas State (4-3, 1-2) on Saturday.
Fred Payton threw two touchdown passes to rally the Chanticleers (4-3) past UMass (2-6) on Saturday.
Marcus Outlaw added 91 yards and a score in the win.
Coastal Carolina will now head to Georgia State (2-5, 1-2 Sun Belt) to resume conference play.
The Eagles (6-1) ran over New Mexico State (2-6) for 389 yards and six touchdowns to blow past the Aggies for their fourth straight win.
Logan Wright had 136 yards and two touchdowns while Wesley Kennedy III added 97 yards and two scores as well.
Georgia Southern will have the rare opportunity to host a ranked opponent as No. 25 Appalachian State (5-1, 3-0 Sun Belt) comes to town on Thursday.
