Michigan (7-1, 5-0 Big Ten) finally beat a ranked opponent on the road for the first time since Lloyd Carr roamed the sidelines in 2006 as they beat Michigan State (4-3, 2-2) in a rain soaked contest.
Lightning caused an hour delay, but the Wolverines seemed unfazed when Shea Patterson found Nico Collins for the only touchdown of the first half. It was the first passing touchdown for Michigan against Michigan State since 2011 when Denard Robinson did so. Michigan gave a big gift to the Spartans in the second half as Chris Evans fumbled inside the Michigan 10-yard line. Two plays later MSU pulled out the "Philly Special" from their bag of tricks as receiver Darrell Stewart Jr. threw a touchdown to quarterback Brian Lewerke to tie the game.
Fumbles and punts filled the next few drives before Patterson threw a bomb that was caught by Donovan Peoples-Jones for a 79-yard touchdown. After an MSU punt, Karan Higdon would find the end zone to put the Wolverines up by 14. The Spartans came into the game having won eight of the last ten games against the Wolverines, but it would be Michigan winning the Paul Bunyan Trophy for the first time since 2016.
Michigan State might have led the nation in rushing yards allowed, but the Wolverines defense held the Spartans to just 94 total yards of offense.
The Wolverines now get a week off before a big showdown at home against Penn State (5-2, 2-2). The Spartans will welcome a Purdue (4-3, 3-1) coming off a huge upset next Saturday.

Anyone has a chance on any given Saturday, but no one saw the dominating performance that Purdue (4-3, 3-1 Big Ten) put on Ohio State (7-1, 4-1).
D.J. Knox ran for 128 yards and three touchdowns while David Blough threw for 378 yards and three scores to lead the Boilermakers. Rondale Moore was unstoppable as he caught 12 passes for 170 yards and two scores. The finishing moment came when Columbus, Ohio native Markus Bailey, picked off Dwayne Haskins and returned it 41 yards for a touchdown.
Haskins threw the ball a school record 73 times, completing 49 passes for 470 yards and two touchdowns, but Ohio State wouldn't score a touchdown until the fourth quarter. The Buckeyes were held to just 76 yards rushing.
Purdue now heads to Michigan State (4-3, 2-2) while the Buckeyes get a week off before hosting Nebraska.

Penn State (5-2, 2-2 Big Ten) couldn't shake the pesky Hoosiers (4-4, 1-4) who have been close, but unable to pull off an upset this season.
Trace McSorley ran for 107 yards and two touchdowns, but did not have a great day passing going 19-of-36 for 220 yards and an interception. Miles Sanders ran for 72 yards and a score to lead the way for the Nittany Lions.
Indiana got a big day from Stevie Scott with 26 carries for 138 yards and two touchdowns. Peyton Ramsey led the Hoosiers back to within five as he connected with J-Shun Harris II for a 21-yard touchdown. After a timeout caused Indiana to re-kick their on-side attempt, the Hoosiers were able to recover the redo.
Indiana went backwards as they faced a second and 27, but nearly completed the first down as Luke Timian caught the ball and appeared to get out of bounds. The official ruled to run the clock and the Hoosiers were forced to run an awkward fourth down play that came up well short of the end zone.
The road doesn't get easier for the Nittany Lions as they welcome ranked Iowa (6-1, 3-1) to Happy Valley. Indiana heads to Minnesota (3-4, 0-4) for a Friday night showdown.

Rutgers (1-7, 0-5 Big Ten) had their first Big Ten win of the season in their sights, but scored just three points in the second half while watching Northwestern (4-3, 4-1) rally for the win.
The Wildcats started the scoring when Isaiah Bowser punched it in from three yards out. It remained that way until the second quarter when Justin Davidovicz's 42-yard field goal got the Scarlet Knights on the board. Isaih Pacheco gave Rugers the lead on a 44-yard touchdown run while the defense added a safety to make it 12-7. Davidovicz would miss a 47-yard field goal as time expired at the half.
A Northwestern fumble started the second half and Rutgers was able to turn that into a field goal to make it a 15-7 game. The Wildcats responded with a field goal of their own and that would limit the scoring in the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Bowser added his second touchdown of the day and Clayton Thorson added a two-point conversion pass to Flynn Nagel to put Northwestern up 18-15.Rutgers punted and the Wildcats held the ball for the final 6:30 to hold on for the win. The loss officially eliminated the Scarlet Knights from bowl contention.
Northwestern will start a rough stretch of three ranked opponents beginning with a trip to Wisconsin (5-2, 3-1) before facing Notre Dame and Iowa. Rutgers will take the week off before they also make a trip to Madison and face the Badgers on Nov. 3.

The wait is over as Scott Frost can now claim his first win as the Nebraska (1-6, 1-4 Big Ten) head coach with a dominating win over Minnesota (3-4, 0-4).
Adrian Martinez helped snap the ten game losing streak by throwing three touchdowns and running for 125 yards and another score. Stanley Morgan Jr. was his favorite target, catching ten passes for 163 yards and two scores. Devine Ozigbo ran for 152 yards and two scores as well for the Cornhuskers.
Tyler Johnson had a huge day for the Golden Gophers as he caught 11 passes for 184 yards. Minnesota had three rushing touchdowns scored by three different players.
Nebraska should pick up win number two as they welcome Bethune Cookman (4-4) of the FCS. BCU is a replacement for Akron as the Zips and Cornhuskers had their game canceled because of weather in Week 1. Minnesota hosts Indiana (4-4, 1-4) on Friday.

Snow in October was about the only surprise in this game as Wisconsin (5-2, 3-1 Big Ten) shook off their loss to Michigan with a throttling of Illinois (3-4, 1-3).
Jonathan Taylor ran for 159 yards, but the day belonged to Taiwan Deal who had 111 yards and two touchdowns. Alex Hornibrook threw three touchdowns, but also had two interceptions for the Badgers.
Reggie Corbin had the big play for the Fighting Illini as he broke his way through tackles and danced his way to an 80-yard touchdown. He did, however, fumble twice as part of the Illini's five turnover day.
Wisconsin heads to Northwestern (4-3, 4-1) while Illinois heads for the hopefully warmer Maryland (4-3, 2-2).

The Terrapins (4-3, 2-2 Big Ten) were held to just 115 total yards of offense in a sloppy game at Iowa (6-1, 3-1).
The Hawkeyes got 98 yards rushing form Ivory Kelly-Martin and Nate Stanley threw the only offensive score to Brandon Smith, who made a nice one-armed grab while being held in the end zone. The defense added a fumble recovery for a touchdown in the win.
Maryland heads home with better chances against Illinois (3-4, 1-3) while Iowa heads to Penn State (5-2, 2-2) for a ranked showdown.
