Air Force (3-4, 1-3 MWC) jumped out to a 20 point lead in the third quarter on Friday, but had to fight off a late rally from the Rebels (2-5, 0-3).
The Falcons sandwiched two field goals around the games first touchdown when UNLV's Max Gilliam found Darren Woods Jr. for a 10-yard touchdown. Lexington Thomas increased that lead to 14-6 when he raced his way to a 74-yard touchdown run.
Air Force found the end zone on the ensuing drive when Isaiah Sanders ran in from six yards out. The touchdowns kept coming before the half as Gilliam and Woods connected for another touchdown and Sanders ran for his second TD to make it a 21-20 Rebels advantage at the half.
Sanders big day continued for the Falcons as he led them to three straight scoring drives to begin the second half. First it was his third touchdown run that gave them the lead and then he used his arm to complete a 69-yard touchdown to Ronald Cleveland. An interception set up a 49-yard Cole Fagan touchdown run and the Falcons were suddenly up 41-21.
UNLV finally responded when Thomas punched it in for his second TD of the game. An Air Force fumble led to a field goal attempt, but Evan Pantels missed the 48-yard kick. The Falcons would fumble again, only this time, Gilliam tossed his third touchdown of the game, this time to Brandon Presley, to bring the Rebels to within six.
They would get one more chance to tie or take the lead, but their final drive stopped at the Air Force 30-yard line. UNLV has now lost four straight. Sanders finished with four touchdowns and 390 total yards including 173 rushing.
Air Force will host Boise State (5-2, 3-1) next while UNLV hopes for better results against San Jose State (0-7, 0-3).
The Boise State Broncos (5-2, 3-1 MWC) improved to 8-0 all-time against Colorado State (3-5, 2-2) as they routed the Rams donning their all orange uniforms on the blue turf on Friday.
Brett Rypien threw for 308 yards and four touchdowns to lead the way for the Broncos with A.J. Richardson hauling in six catches for 137 yards and two scores. Sean Modster caught the other two touchdowns while Alexander Mattison ran for 85 yards and a score for Boise State.

Boise State heads to Air Force (3-4, 1-3) while Colorado State returns home for another Friday showdown, this time with Wyoming (2-6, 0-4).
The Aggies (6-1, 3-0 MWC) continued to stay hot as they won their sixth straight despite only amassing 194 yards against Wyoming (2-4, 0-4).
Utah State jumped out to a quick lead with a Darwin Thompson 56-yard touchdown. Thompson added another score in the third quarter and Savon Scarver had the big play for the Aggies with his 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Nico Evans got the Cowboys within 11 when he scampered in from 53 yards out on his way to a 133 yard day. Quarterback Sean Chambers also ran for 100 yards in the loss. The Wyoming defense did an excellent job against Jordan Love, holding him to just 53 yards passing, with a sack and an interception.
Utah State hopes for more convincing results to keep their winning streak alive when New Mexico (3-4, 1-2) comes to town. The Cowboys will travel to Colorado State (3-5, 2-2) on Friday.
The Spartans (0-7, 0-3 MWC) were oh so close to winning their first game of the season, but the Aztecs (6-1, 3-0) made several defense stops to seal the win.
Chase Jasmin's 1-yard touchdown helped build a 13-6 lead for San Diego State, but a Malike Roberson 1-yard TD for San Jose State tied the game. The Spartans had a chance to take the lead in the fourth quarter, but Josh Love was picked off and it was returned to within field goal range. That set up the go-ahead boot from Josh Barron II who drilled a 51-yard field goal with ease as only 4:36 remained.
San Jose State's next two drives were halted on downs and the Aztecs held on to win.
San Diego State heads to Nevada (4-4, 2-2) next while Spartans hope UNLV (2-5, 0-3) will give them their first win of the season.
While most people were sleeping on the East Coast, Nevada (4-4, 2-2 MWC) was taking it to Hawai'i (6-3, 3-1) on the islands.
Ty Gangi threw for a touchdown while Toa Taua carried the ball 18 times for 126 yards and a TD for the Wolfpack. Devonte Lee made his six carries count as two of them went in for a score while Elijah Cooks caught a touchdown and ran for a 40-yard TD.
The Rainbow Warriors defense forced three fumbles, two on punt returns, but the offense could only generate seven points off those miscues. Cole McDonald threw for three touchdowns, but was just 19-of-37. John Ursua had another big game with seven catches for 123 yards and a score in the loss.
Both teams leave the island and head to the mainland to face the two top teams in the Mountain West. Nevada heads home to face San Diego State (6-1, 3-0) while the Rainbow Warriors travel to Fresno State (6-1, 3-0).
The Lobos (3-4, 1-2 MWC) put up little resistance to prevent Fresno State (6-1, 3-0) from winning their fifth straight.
Marcus McMaryion threw for three touchdowns with two of those going to KeeSean Johnson. Johnson had eight catches for 149 yards while Ronnie Rivers ran for two scores and caught another in the win.
Sheriron Jones and Elijah Lilly connected for the lone New Mexico touchdown.
Fresno State welcomes Hawai'i (6-3, 3-1) next while the Lobos head to Utah State (6-1, 3-0).
